I started up at Washington Gym in November and signed a 3 month contract for 3 days a week. I wanted to start somewhere that wasn't just a regular gym, I needed a place that was encouraging and a place where I could just go and and be instructed on what to do and do it in correct form all while having fun! I still can't run because of my ankle so these workouts are also providing my cardio which is KEY!

On day 1 they took my measurements so that at the end of three months I can see my progress.
Lets just say I was bummed on that first day. My Body Fat content was a lot higher than I thought  it would be. 29.76% !!!!! Way too high!!! When my three months is up I will post all my measurements for accountability. I was 126 lbs on 11/8/12 and today I am 121.

My problem areas are my tummy, love handles, and thighs! This is all going to take more than just working out for me. I have to eat right to demolish these areas. Most of the time eating healthy is not a problem, it's the road trips, vacations, working long hours, birthday parties, and social events that throw me off. French Fries, Chips and Queso, Ice Cream, Carbs and Alcohol are all things I enjoy very much.
Who am I kidding, they will never be completely out of my life so I just have to learn portion control and maybe allow it only 1-2 days a week.

love this post! i'm a college athlete but my season ends tomorrow. since i always have schedule practices of 2-4 hours a day, i never really have to focus on a fitness schedule since it's there for me. now that my season is ending i need to be really careful to pay attention to my eating/working out habits or else i'm going to gain weight! my problem areas are my tummy and love handles as well! you look great thought!

oooooh, the floor-sweeper flies are serious bidnizz! And way to go in killing it with tens :)

The best thing to remember when wanting to get fit is that it's 30% gym and 70% diet. What you put in your body matters! Your weaknesses are similar to mine, and I've had to rehaul my diet completely (diet as in what I eat daily). You're spot on in your goals, so own that shit!

Check out some hot yoga and avoid bikram (hot yoga is more flow oriented while bikram are the same set of poses that don't flow... I'm a flow yoga gal). Bayou Bliss has some great flow yogas too (and they are very local run business with organic errrthang; I attend kirtan (singing yoga) on Friday's there and the owner is a sweet wonderful woman that got me into acro yoga). For that matter... ACRO YOGA! There's a group in Houston where we hold Acro yoga jams in the Menile and discovery green. Great way to meet lots of yogi's and have fun. It's totall ya'lls scene. :)

You're my inspiration to get fit! The health studio I'm with has a 90 day program too and I'm done with it in 2 weeks. I follow a couple of fitspo instagram accounts to keep me motivated whenever I don't feel like going to the gym or when I have cravings.

I've been doing my best to eat healthy and I run about 5-6 times a week but I can't seem to shake my sweets addiction! Portion control is definitely a large part of being healthy for me. Props to you for your goals! Can't wait to see where you are in three months.

Did you do this with only 3xs a week?
Also, I have the same problem. Now that I live in Austin, there are happy hours, dinner parties and other social obligations that come up and I had gained 10 lbs! I just lost the weight...but I did it with a radical radical diet that makes me miserable and crazy hungry.
Also, it has made me less social, which is not good when you are in a new town.
How do you handle the social part of eating and drinking?

Carla- you look amazing! and Yes This is from 3 days a week, sometimes 2 days, sometimes on a good week I will work out 3 days at the gym and then do 2 days of cardio (p90x).
The social part is really hard!!!
This is why I watch TV at home at night a lot! To avoid drinking. I do go to the important events still. Trying to change my lifestyle, good way to find out who your real friends are.

I'm loving this series and even went back into your archives to see past fitness posts that I might've missed. Super encouraging since I have the same problem areas as you. I am gearing up to change that before the summer starts up again.
I'm just wondering, how tall are you? Just to put into perspective your weight loss and how it relates to your frame. I'm barely 5'3" so any weight gain is super noticeable!

Great pictures! I just started doing yoga last week with my girlfriends, it is so much fun. I really thought I was going to hate it. My friends were talking about taking a trip and doing yoga in Nicaragua. I really hope that I can go because that would be a once in a lifetime trip. I just feel like I am not on the same level as everyone else and I don't want to travel thousands of miles to make a fool of myself. Thanks for sharing!
