AS OF LATELY /// August

TV /// During the summer months TV usually sucks but this year Netflix really nailed it with Stranger Things. I grew up with movies like ET, The Goonies, and The Quest (another rad 80's movie with Henry Thomas) so I was super stoked when I found out that this takes place in 1983. If you are looking for something that reminds you of your childhood or if you just want to watch a great series go to Netflix and start watching. It's only 8 episodes so you can totally binge watch in a day or you can savor it and watch one episode a week. Oh and don't worry... it's been confirmed that there will be a season 2!!!

TUNES /// In our house we are constantly streaming music through Apple Music so if you want a really awesome playlist while you have friends over for drinks or if you are just hanging out and want to chill you should play Arcade Fire : Influences /// It has 15 bad ass songs. Get on this playlist now. You can thank me later.

HOME /// We've been having a lot of fun arranging and shopping for furniture in our new home. We are not in any rush we are just enjoying the process. So far the only big items we have purchased are This Bed, These Barstools, This Media Console, and This Entry Way Table. We actually had to cut the bed in half to get it up to our bedroom, if you follow me on snap you already know this. Just a bunch of problem solvers over here. Thanks Joe! Anyway, some places that we have been frequenting for home decor are Amazon,  Nordstrom, West Elm, Homegoods, World Market, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters. And I pretty much want everything in THIS shop.  Our home already has been rearranged since THIS POST.

TRAVEL /// In two weeks we have a family vacation to Northern California but then Jacob and I will head to Palm Springs to meet up with some friends. Thankful for sites like Trip Advisor, and Cheap Flights.com that make booking trips so much easier.

WORK /// I'm really excited for next weeks HAIR TO class at Do or Dye Tx. We will be teaching clients how to get waves for days starting from step 1 at the shampoo bowl. See the last class HERE. If you aren't already following @Hairtoclass @doordyetx you should for weekly hair tips and inspiration and Hair tutorials like the Braid Cross Tuck and THIS ONE.

BLOG /// I added a WISH LIST page. I will be adding to this page daily. If I find a good deal or if I see something I absolutely love I want to share it with you. What you will find on the WISH LIST page : Clothing, Home Accessories, Furniture, Beauty Products, Hair Tools/ Products... so keep checking back.

If you read my previous post you are slightly familiar with  The Corte Del Norte. If you are just now catching up, I recently went out to Marfa, Texas with a group of Houston movers and shakers for a Lululemon Residency and  The Corte Del Norte was our beautiful home during our stay.

The Corte Del Norte is a compound made up of two houses, The Rock City House and The Love House . Between the two houses, there is plenty of space for a family vacation, group hangs, events (I would love to see a unique wedding out there!) and BONUS, it’s within walking distance to everything in town. During our residency, there were 8-9 of us and the compound comfortably accommodated us.

You can find  The Corte Del Norte compound available to rent on Airbnb. I stayed in The Love House and didn't want to leave because the design, the comfort, and its beautifully decorated. Jamey and Constance Garza of Garza Marfa designed the compound and I wish they would come to Houston and design my home. I kept taking photos every time I turned a corner. The colors, the fixtures, the furniture, the prints, and the photos on the wall are all so intentional and inspiring.

Another perk of the house is the offer services. When we arrived Josh and Brooke greeted us with fresh Margaritas. Yes please and thank you! The drive from Houston to Marfa is long so having the fridge already stocked and stuff to make margaritas and cocktails right when you get there is AMAZING.

Check out more of the house HERE.

Over the Summer a group of Houston makers, shakers, creatives and brand ambassadors were invited out to Marfa, Texas for a Lululemon Residency. Since returning, I’ve been asked to share my experience and I can’t provide a quick n’ easy answer! Every trip out to Marfa, Texas has blown my mind and each time has been completely unique. The empty landscape and minimal lifestyle leaves little distraction from your travel crew and local run-ins. Connection.

Lululemon is an incredible athletics brand that supports community, connection, inspiration and all around healthy lifestyles. Over the month of June, they sent a different group of Houstonians out to Marfa for a week to connect, share meals, tell stories, and soak up as much inspiration as possible. I was traveling with a crew outside my everyday usual and I really enjoyed getting outside my comfort zone and getting vulnerable with strangers. Lululemon keeps impressing me the way they always give back.

The Residence ///

We stayed at a house called The Corte Del Norte and it was amazing. My friends Josh and Brooke who once live in Houston and Marfa, Texas were there when we arrived. Turns out, The Corte Del Norte is actually their Aunt’s house so that was a great surprise to be greeted by them. Seriously the best house for residency. Every morning we had coffee from Cedar Coffee Supply, or Do Your Thing Coffee

Activities ///

Our mornings were kicked off with coffee from either Cedar Coffee Supply or Do Your Thing Coffee. From there we: practiced meditation, got to know one another, Star Party at McDonald Observatory, Kevin Bacon spotting, Shared meals, explored West Texas, Prada Marfa, Had drinks at Hotel Saint George, opened up and learned a lot about ourselves, shared our stories, cried, laughed, and checked out of our normal routine while in Marfa. I Have to say one of the most enjoyable experiences was when Simone, from Do Your Thing Coffee, came to the house and prepared a feast for us. She had to leave right after because most of the locals were in Kevin Bacon's TV pilot. WHAT?

As mentioned before, I have been to Marfa enough times to really know my way around ;) If you’ve ever been there, you know I’m kidding. It’s so small you’ll know your way around in a day! Anyway here are a few of my Marfa recommendations///
