Shameless Self-Promotion

I work at an independent record store. I enjoy it, but it's not my love.

(actual marquee at our old location)

I book shows around Lubbock. I like to see a venue filled up with friends and new faces, all excited about the show taking place, but there is still something I am more passionate about.

(local band The Diamond Center's farewell show, cleverly dubbed Texodus)

I started booking bands independently last year and have since found it to be one of the most enjoyable, challenging and non money-making jobs I have taken on. Maybe one day this line of work will allow me to buy Kelly more Pantone mugs or a lifetime supply of black bean and avocado burgers, but for now I plug along, simply trying to get bands I believe in shows all over.

Two of my acts just started East coast tours, three have just released new records, one is in Gwyneth Paltrow's backing band in a new movie, one recently celebrated their ten year anniversary and all of them are working hard and making music I'm proud to try and get in front of others. I am genuinley proud and honored to be working for these people, and I want to share them with you.

Have a good day, darling.

Brandi told me of this magical Web site lala.com, and this week I am testing it out. All the songs are linked through the site (which is FREE), and I am now linking the albums through allmusic.com (generally pretty informative, but some album descriptions read more as reviews, which I'm not thrilled about). Please let us know if you like this format or if you would prefer something else. Here to please!

Pete Yorn - Country - (Back & Fourth)

The Dead See - Mary Kelly - (Through the Veil)

Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out - (Diana)

love this album!

PJ Harvey - Missed - (Rid of Me)

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds - Fallin' In Love - (Fallin' In Love)

XTC - Grass - (Skylarking)

King's X - Don't Care - (Dogman)

signing off now.

Really, No Rhyme Or Reason

I was a bit pressed for time this week, so this play list really has no continuity, save for the fact that most of the tracks fall into the alt-country genre. Hope everyone has fun at Kelly's going-away dinner. Wish I could be there.
