NASHVILLE, TN /// Parlour & Juke

This past weekend, I finally got my butt over to Parlour & Juke salon and barber shop. What an experience! My best pal has been with Owner/Stylist Cali Devaney since before this dream became a reality, so I've been hearing about it's greatness for some time now. Being the hair junky that I am, I've been dying to see Cali in action and check out the rad salon I've heard so much about. It was perfect. They also carry a few of my favorite product lines, including Kevin Murphy and Oribe. The staff, the vibe, the tunes, the design, the work... everything down to the smallest detail made this environment an experience.
Note: A few P&J stylists book out months in advance, so do your research and plan your appointments accordingly :)

What salon in your city do you always recommend? What makes that experience a good one? We'd love to check it out next time we visit.

AROUND YOUR TOWN /// NORTHERN CALIFORNIA RECOMMENDATIONS

MMBB_DownByTheBay

During my stay in California, I took some time to explore the Northern California Bay Area with friends. Needless to say, I'm in love with the whole state, but these are a few new gems I really enjoyed and recommend.

/We grubbed at
The Slanted Door We just told the waiter to bring us a little bit of everything! Might have been one of the best decisions we made on this trip.
Nopa Cool vibes, Great food, amazing service. I'd recommend asking the staff about their favorites.
La Mar Cebicheria Peruana  OMG. Get the Cebiche Sampler.
Foreign Cinema Unique atmosphere with delicious food.
Osha-Thai Food Perfect for lunch
La Boulange We would come here during our break from class for Soup and Sandwiches.
Caffe Delucchi Blueberry Pancakes!!! Do you need to know anything else?

/We hung out at
Dolores Park (SEE POST) Fun place to have a picnic, drink wine, take a nap, and people watch.
Twin Peaks Awesome view of the city.
Alcatraz Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. We totally geeked out. And did I mention it's Amazing?
Alamo Square As seen on Full House. I mean we all grew up watching it so why not?
Rodeo Beach (Sausalito) Small, but beautiful.
Marin Headlands Jacob proposed here! It's absolutely breathtaking and holds a warm and fuzzy place in my heart.
Muir Woods Being here is kind of like being on the set of a movie. It's unreal. see post.

/We got happy at these Wineries
Iron Horse We started our mornings outside with a little bubbly and the perfect view.
Red Car  This place was awesome, reminded me of El Cosmico in a way. I want my house to look like  this!
Inman Family Wines The women including the owner were so warm and welcoming. I loved learning that everything was built with recycled materials.
Harvest Moon  The owner and people who work here are super fun and made our visit memorable.
Hook & Ladder And we fell down the rabbit hole

Martin Ray  Continued falling. It was a beautiful blur.

/We used this Service
Valet of the Moon wine Tours Grace researched and found Colleen and Sharon, who take groups on wine tours. The thing about them that stood out was that they drive your car or your rental. This makes wine tours way more fun, you just sit back and have a blast without the worry of trying to find the next winery or getting pulled over after drinking wine all day. I highly recommend calling them!

WHAT'S IN MY CARRY-ON

In Brandi's Carry-on:
Reading Material (and yes, I buy books at the airport)
// The Perks of being a Wallflower MUST READ! Loved it!
// Bossy Pants
// Cooler and Foam Magazine

Bottled Water
// Since we have to buy water after security, I usually just go for the cheapest bottle.

Snack
// Morning Kick it has wasabi peas and coffee beans

Lippies
// Jack Black Lip Balm
// Lipstick so when I get off the flight I have some color on my face.

Gadgets
// ipad and Ipad Bag
// ipod - my friend Russel told me to listen to Clocks as I was about to land and, so I did. It was kinda perfect... but my all time favorite song to listen to on a plane is Halycon On and On from Hackers. I saw this movie when I was 14 and this song always got me. I would close my eyes and imagine I was sitting next to Johnny Lee Miller.

Comfort
// Sweater - because I get cold then hot then cold again, and you can always bunch it up and hug it
// My Neck Pillow - They really do make a difference and they keep you from losing your chin.

Hair
// Dry Shampoo- to refresh my airplane greasy head.

What do you travel with?
